In Burkina Faso, Terre Armée is involved in the construction of Ouagadougou’s northern interchange, creating 12,000 m² of Reinforced Earth® access ramps.
The construction works, located in the heart of the city, were commissioned by the Ministry of Infrastructure who awarded the contract to Sogea-Satom (VINCI Construction International Network). The interchange is intended to ease traffic flow in this highly congested urban area.
Thanks to its internationally recognized expertise, Terre Armée France was selected to design, supply and provide technical assistance for the Reinforced Earth® access ramps for 4 of the structures of this interchange situated on the north-western tip of the city’s ring road. Terre Armée teams have been present since early 2016, working on design notes and construction plans, provision of formwork, supply of precast inserts and GeoStrap® synthetic reinforcing strips as well as technical assistance for precasting of the facing panels and assembly of the Reinforced Earth® access ramps.
Located at a point where two dams meet, this project is exceptional since the Sogea-Satom teams had to drain and sanitize the entire area before building two new dams upstream and downstream of the site.
As an integral team member for this project comprising several civil engineering structures including some on deep foundations and two over an operating rail line, Terre Armée plays a key role in shaping the definitive ring road for Burkina Faso’s capital.
The works are scheduled over 36 months and should be completed at the end of 2018.
