In Kampala, at the Northern edge of Lake Victoria, Reinforced Earth South Africa (RESA) supplied Reinforced Earth\u00ae<\/sup> walls for the extension of the Northern Bypass.<\/h2>\n

Designed in a\u00a0semicircle<\/strong>\u00a0and built between\u00a02004<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a02009<\/strong>\u00a0across the northern suburbs of the city, the bypass aims to relieve\u00a0traffic congestion<\/strong>\u00a0in the city centre. \u00a0In May\u00a02014<\/strong>, the expansion of the Northern Bypass into a dual carriageway was launched by the Ugandan National Roads Authority in order to form part of the\u00a0East-West route<\/strong>\u00a0around the northern side of Kampala. The contract comprises a total of\u00a06\u00a0bridges<\/strong>\u00a0and associated Reinforced Earth\u00ae<\/sup>\u00a0approach ramp<\/strong>\u00a0retaining walls for a network of interchanges. The extent of the Reinforced Earth\u00ae totals\u00a010,562\u00a0m\u00b2<\/strong> of\u00a0TerraClass\u00ae<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0panels, using\u00a0171,314\u00a0metres<\/strong> or\u00a0340\u00a0Tons<\/strong> of HAR steel reinforcements\u00a045 x 5.<\/strong> The\u00a0Sentema Bridge<\/strong>\u00a0is the only structure built to date, with the other bridges to following the coming months.\u00a0Design,\u00a0material supply<\/strong>\u00a0and the\u00a0precasting<\/strong>\u00a0are complete for all the structures, work is expected to be completed by\u00a02019<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<\/div>
